Well howdy there! I've been seriously slacking in my posts (again) I can't guarantee that it will get better seeing as summer seems to already be shaping up to be outrageously busy but I am certainly going to make the effort! Aren't you lucky.
Rest assured that my mediocre blogging is in no way shape or form a comment on my progress, quite the opposite! I've been so busy with life and 1/2 training that I haven't made time to share! So this week I'm going to give you two posts! Again, aren't you lucky. No worries though, the second post is food! Homemade granola bars to be specific!
Anywaaaay, aside from some slacking off on some morning workouts, 1/2 training is going full speed ahead! Saturday I went the longest distance I have ever gone, 4 miles! No judgment please, this was a big accomplishment for me. And I know purists are going to say "You didn't Run 4 miles" Well no, if you want to get technical I run/walk/run -ed 4 miles. So yes a fair amount of walking is still included but I finish each distance having kept moving the whole distance and without injury and sweating to the oldies so I think I'm headed in the right direction :) The goal is still to run the GR 1/2 in October to get the distance under my belt... well running shorts. Then have a couple months to really work on getting my speed up. This is totally happening people! It's still mind boggling to me that in 266 days I'm going to be running 13.1 miles at Walt Disney World! With one of my BFF's of course!
Now onto the go big part of this post...... it has come to may attention that runDisny is going to be adding a 10K to this years line up of events. It has also come to my attention that there will also be something called the Glass Slipper Challenge that will entail running the 10K on Saturday followed by the 1/2 marathon on Sunday. Now having already presented this idea to my PIC, she thinks I'm nuts.... which I think is closer to the reality :) But I'm super interested in the prospect of a major physical challenge. Besides, a 10K is only 6.2 miles and by that time I'll have done 14 as my longest distance. You also get another shiny metal, in addition to the ones you will get for the 10K and 1/2 and you all know how I feel about shiny.
So what do you think friends? Go big or go home?
And the adventure continues!
I didn't really say you were nuts. In fact, I've been batting around the idea of going for the Coast-to-Coast challenge too (Tinkerbell 1/2 in Disneyland and the Princess 1/2 in Disneyworld a month later). You know, since I live within driving distance of Disneyland, it seems like it wouldn't be that ridiculous to do.
ReplyDeleteYou could totally do the Coast to coast! That would be so cool! Then at least one of us would have done a runDisney event and know what to expect! :)
